Ask the Disney Moms – How to Celebrate a Birthday for a 2 Year Old?

Reader Bailey asked:

I would love to know what everyone does to celebrate birthdays at Disney! We will be there for my daughters 2nd birthday and I need some ideas!

Hi Bailey!  Our family has celebrated several different birthdays at Walt Disney World.  I’ve discussed this topic a couple of times over at WDW Fan Zone here and here and am excited to discuss them again with The Disney Moms.

We’ve done custom cakes that I’ve ordered thought the Cake Hotline at 407-827-2253.  I have yet to be disappointed with their cakes but was always pretty specific with my requests.  You can check out the Disboards Cake Chatter thread for lots of pictures of what others have ordered and received.  I even go as far as to plan our Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) around where we can get an awesome cake.

Birthday buttons are another fun way to celebrate. The best part of this is it’s free!!  Ask for them at your resort when you check in or at Customer Services when you hit the parks.

Nothing screams celebration like coming back to a room decorated for the occasion !  Disney offers this service for an additional fee or you could bring some decorations along with you when you visit.  Here’s a link to Disney’s celebration information for more details on what they offer and the prices.

Any ADRs your group have should have your celebration noted too!  There’s no promise that something will happen but my kiddos have gotten birthday cards signed by characters or servers, free desserts and just extra attention because we’ve noted our celebration on our ADR.  It may help to remind the host or hostess when you check in too.

Enjoy your celebration at Disney World!
